“Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, the other gold.” -Auld Lang Syne

Ok, so usually I do this survey every New Year’s Eve, but since I 1) was in Pasadena yesterday (!) and 2) completely forgot about it, I guess the saying goes “it’s better late than never,” right?

Looking Back on the Year 2007:

1. What did you do in 2007 that you had never done before? Vacationed in Kaua’i (and oooooh so worth it), went to college, senior-pranked, chopped my hair off & dyed it dark, became a coffee drinker.
2. Did you keep your New Year’ s Resolution(s) and will you make more this year? I did in fact keep my resolution of not eating fast food, but I didn’t NOT cuss & I didn’t read the Bible everyday. This year, I’m actually going to read the Bible everyday & I still haven’t figured out what else to resolve. Hmmm….
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Not that I remember…except my neighbor Molly across the street.
4. Did anyone close to you die? Nope, thank the Lord.
5. What countries did you visit? The same as always: none.
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? Optimism & a better attitude
7. What date from 2007 will remain etched in your memory and why? May 19th, 2007–Senior Prom. Just overall, a FANTASTIC day/night.
8. What was your greatest achievement of the year? Earning a few scholarships. Definitely.
9. What was your biggest failure? Being a good sister/daughter. I really need to be more thankful for my family and respectful to them.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? NOPE
11. What was the best thing you bought, or received? This MacbookPro
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? David Feeney, Kunal Patel, Mr. Hoshi
13. Whose behavior made you appalled or depressed? Mr. Royal, Mrs. Scott, Randall
14. Where did most of your money go? GAS, La Creperie, and architecture supplies!
15. What did you get really, really, really, excited about? JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE FUTURESEX/LOVESHOW. OMG
16. What song will always remind you of 2007? “Home” -Vanessa Carlton

Compared to this time last year, are you:
17. Happier or sadder? Happier, especially after finishing senior year & moving onto Cal Poly. Definitely.
18. Thinner or fatter? Fatter.
19. Richer or poorer? Richer. Thanks to grad $ & fin.aid. haha.
20. What do you wish you’d done more of? Gone to church, prayed, tanned.
21. What do you wish you’d spent less time doing? Complaining about senior year & regretting.
22. How did you spend Christmas? Was home for a month! Had a very laidback Christmas morning opening gifts & went over to Jill’s house for Linner. Watched the Lakers OWN the Suns. Cheah.
23. Did you fall in love in 2007? Nope.
24. How many one-night stands? I can’t even tell you…sheesh.
25. What was your favorite TV program? Project Runway
26. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Yeah, but I like the term “don’t care for.”
27. What was the best book you read? Fast Food Nation. I definitely recommend it.
28. What was your greatest musical discovery? Kate Nash & Vanessa Carlton’s Heroes & Thieves
29. What did you want and get? A road trip with the girls, a genius senior prank, speaking at graduation, a MacBook Pro, new camera, got away from the cops lol, learned to play the guitar, good laughs.
30. What did you want and NOT get? Better grades in calc & physics, a raise, appreciation.
31. What was your favorite film of this year? The Great Debaters.
32. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 19 (!) this year, and spent it with all my new Cal Poly friends & went to CPK for dinner then Farmer’s. Got to go home for the weekend with my out-of-stater arch friends too! It was a great birthday!
33. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? The full-blown senior prank, as it was planned. That would have been SOOOO great.
34. How would you describe your personal fashion style in 2007? Laidback & pushing the limits (of school & starbucks).
35. What kept you sane? Heart-to-hearts with friends & nonfat vanilla lattes.
36. Which celebrity did you fancy the most? Let’s not even joke: Justin. Randall. Timberlake.
37. Which political issue stirred you the most? The possibilities of this year’s elections with both a woman and minority leading the race. I’m excited to see how it turns out.
38. Who did you miss? Miss Lutz, Peanut Butter, Alaska & KG, Alyson, Jessi, Feeney, Kunal. Almost everyone from OA.
39. Who was the best new person you met? Anna Clauson. In fact, all the girls in bible study.
40. What was a valuable lesson you learned in 2006? I have a couple: First, pessimism is a HUGE waste of time. Second, don’t predict you’ll get along with others just because you share similar tastes and characteristics.
41. Quote a song or lyric that sums up your year: “To find the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.”

Reflections are quite useful. And therapeutic.
C’est la vie,
Chappie
